Leonard Vanatta dies days after suffering injuries in Joplin car crash

Fatal Joplin car crash death of Leonard Vanatta – Obituary

On November 5, 2024, Leonard Vanatta, 82, of Columbus, Kansas, was involved in a serious vehicle accident near 43rd Street and Range Line Road in Joplin, Missouri. Vanatta, driving a yellow 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, was heading east on 43rd Street when he stopped at a stop sign at Range Line Road before proceeding forward. Unfortunately, his car entered the path of a southbound Chrysler Town & Country van, leading to a severe collision.

Emergency responders, including the Joplin Fire Department and EMS from the Newton County Ambulance District, arrived promptly and transported Vanatta to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Vanatta succumbed to his injuries on November 10 at a hospital in Springfield, Missouri. His family has been informed of his passing.
