Fatal Akron shooting death of Jamar E. Franklin – Obituary
Jamar E. Franklin, 29, of Akron, was fatally shot on November 7 in the parking lot of Tasty Carry Out on West Long Street following a dispute. According to Akron police, Franklin managed to drive a short distance after being shot but eventually crashed his vehicle near South Main Street and West Miller Avenue. Responding officers discovered Franklin inside the car with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities later identified three suspects in the case: Khairi Moorer, 23, Derek Edwards, 19, and Robert Davis, 19. After a week-long investigation, U.S. Marshals and Akron police arrested all three men in Akron on November 14.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement, stating that outstanding investigative work led to the identification and capture of the suspects involved in the fatal incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED or submit a tip through their website. Anonymous tips are accepted, and rewards are available.
