Fatal Glassport shooting death of James Mack Jr. – Obituary

Authorities are investigating the death of 18-year-old James Mack Jr., who was fatally shot during an altercation in Glassport, Allegheny County, on Sunday afternoon. Police have arrested 17-year-old James Martin in connection with the incident.

 

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Monongahela Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. First responders found Mack deceased at the scene. Witness accounts suggest the conflict began as a physical fight between Mack and Martin, escalating when Martin allegedly fired multiple shots at Mack.

 

Following the shooting, Martin reportedly fled the scene on a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus. He was later apprehended by Clairton police. Authorities have charged Martin with several offenses, including criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of a firearm by a minor.

 

The investigation remains ongoing, and a GoFundMe page has been launched to support the Mack family, raising nearly $2,000 as of Monday afternoon.
