Authorities in Prince George’s County have released the identity of the victim killed in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday night in Marlow Heights.
Around 8:50 p.m. on November 16, officers arrived at the 4400 block of Saint Barnabas Road following a report of a pedestrian collision. They discovered a woman, later identified as 37-year-old Portia Newton from Temple Hills, lying in the roadway. Sadly, Newton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial findings from the investigation indicate that the driver was heading north on Saint Barnabas Road near Leisure Drive when they struck Newton. The driver failed to stop or remain at the scene of the accident.
Investigators suspect the vehicle involved is a white work van, possibly a GMC Savanna or Chevrolet Express.
