Fatal Batemans Bay car crash death of Carl Wilkinson – Obituary

Senior Constable Carl Wilkinson, a 37-year-old police officer, tragically lost his life in a car crash on the Princes Highway near Batemans Bay last Thursday, November 28. The incident occurred just days after he and his family relocated to the area.

 

The off-duty officer’s utility vehicle collided with a truck around 1:30 pm, approximately one kilometer north of the East Lynne Service Station, situated between Batemans Bay and Termeil. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and the highway was closed in both directions for several hours to allow authorities to investigate the crash.

 

The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old man, escaped uninjured and was transported to Batemans Bay Hospital for mandatory testing. Sadly, Carl Wilkinson succumbed to his injuries at the scene, leaving the South Coast community mourning the loss of a respected officer and family man.
