A 17-year-old high school hockey player tragically passed away after experiencing a sudden medical emergency during a game on Saturday evening, November 30.

 

Connor Kasin, a senior at Massapequa High School on Long Island, was playing in a varsity ice hockey game at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center when the incident occurred. According to reports, Kasin collapsed during a break in the game, prompting immediate assistance from those nearby.

 

Bystanders at the rink began performing CPR until emergency responders arrived at the scene. Despite their best efforts, Kasin was later transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The exact cause of the medical emergency has not been revealed.

 

The community has been left heartbroken by the loss. Massapequa High School released a statement expressing deep sorrow over Kasin’s passing, offering condolences to his family and friends. Kasin was also a member of the Sharks Elite Youth Hockey team, where he played as a defenseman for the 18U team. The team issued a statement mourning his loss, acknowledging his positive impact on those around him.

 

Fellow students and teammates have shared their grief, with one describing Kasin as a kind and good-hearted person. To support those affected, the Massapequa School District announced that grief counseling would be available for students in the days following the tragedy.
