The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the victims of a tragic crash on Interstate 94 near mile marker 145 in Albany Township on Saturday afternoon. Sarah Jones, 42, and her 15-year-old passenger, Kale Olson, both from Minneapolis, were killed in the collision.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. when the Toyota Prius driven by Jones collided with the rear of a semi-trailer. Both Jones and Olson were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the State Patrol report, neither of the victims was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The semi-truck driver, a 21-year-old man, was not injured but was transported to Melrose Hospital for precautionary evaluation.
