Scott Herring dies in fatal Somerset County incident

Fatal Somerset County death of Scott Herring – Obituary

Somerset County Coroner Cullen Swank confirmed that 58-year-old Scott Herring of Meyersdale was found deceased in Flaugherty Creek on November 27. At this time, the exact cause and manner of death remain undetermined, with Swank stating that the investigation is ongoing. Toxicology reports and additional testing have been conducted on Herring’s body, but the results are expected to take four to six weeks.

 

Earlier this year, in May, Herring was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police after an incident on May 21, where he was seen wandering Large Street in Meyersdale with a handgun, reportedly shouting at bystanders. In September, court records show Herring pled guilty to a third-degree felony charge of making terroristic threats, while charges related to assault, endangerment, disorderly conduct, and trespassing were dropped.
