Fatal West Hartford pedestrian crash death of Anne Rapkin – Obituary

Friends and family gathered in West Hartford on December 4 to honor Anne Rapkin, a 74-year-old woman who tragically lost her life after being struck by a car on November 27 while walking her dog. At a vigil held near the intersection of Sedgwick and Cornell Roads, those who knew Rapkin described her as a compassionate, intelligent, and helpful person who dedicated her life to serving others. Rapkin, a former attorney, later worked as a chaplain, helping Afghani refugees in Connecticut and offering companionship to those in need. This marks the third pedestrian death in West Hartford this year, drawing attention to road safety issues in the community. The vigil also called for increased efforts to implement Vision Zero, a safety plan aimed at preventing such tragedies. A memorial service for Rapkin will be held on December 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hartford.
