Fatal Port Huron shooting death of Vincent Buckles – Obituary

Port Huron authorities have identified the man found dead in a home Tuesday with multiple gunshot wounds as 35-year-old Vincent Buckles, a resident of the city.

Investigators stated they are actively following multiple leads and utilizing all available resources to solve the case. They urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing their commitment to securing justice for Buckles. Officials also expressed their sympathies to his family.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support Buckles’ family, with nearly $4,000 raised toward a $5,500 goal as of Thursday morning. The fundraiser’s organizers described the financial burden his loved ones now face, stating they need assistance to cover funeral and memorial expenses.

The Buckles/Lee family shared their heartbreak over his loss, saying that Vincent, known as “Vinny,” was shot and killed unexpectedly in his home, with his young daughter present. They described him as a devoted father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend who always prioritized his family.

Despite injuries from a car accident last year, Buckles remained determined to improve life for those he cared about, showing incredible strength and perseverance, his family said.

Police responded to a call about a fire around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of Vanness Street, where they found a vehicle engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the blaze. About 15 minutes later, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Vanness for a reported shooting, where they found Buckles deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities suspect the vehicle fire was intentionally set and are investigating whether it is connected to the homicide.
