Robert Warren, a 28-year-old inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Maryland, was killed in his cell earlier this week, authorities have confirmed.
Emergency medical personnel declared Warren deceased on Monday after his body was discovered inside his cell. Maryland State Police confirmed the incident in a statement released Wednesday, identifying the death as a homicide following an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
