Jacob Reich, a 26-year-old from West Bend, Wisconsin, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on the night of Friday, December 13, 2024. The accident occurred around 9:46 p.m. on Highway 45 near CTH Y, in the Town of Auburn, Fond du Lac County.
Emergency responders, including personnel from Campbellsport and Kewaskum Fire Departments, arrived on scene to assist the victims.
Reich was driving a pickup truck southbound on Highway 45 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 16-year-old female from Campbellsport. Following the crash, the truck rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its side.
Despite life-saving efforts by medical teams, Reich was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
Reich was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The female driver, however, was wearing a seatbelt. Authorities are investigating the crash, and speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
The crash caused a temporary closure of Highway 45 for several hours while the scene was processed by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
